Blog of Domestic Bliss

Welcome to my little project. I started this blog after coming to the realization that I was living a life of domestic blah rather than domestic bliss. I once considered myself a hip domestic, a domestic goddess, a June Cleaver waiting-to-be. Then I had children, left behind the working world, and become a happy homemaker. Or more like a sleep deprived, shower every other day, microwaving frozen entrees, frazzled mother of two. So I decided to join the mommy mafia of bloggers and commit to finding that inner diva I've suppressed for a few years and let her have her day in the sun- er blogosphere.

What is significant about fingerprints and chicken soup? While the majority of messes children make can be gross, slimy, smelly, and often leave me wishing they'd just grow up a little faster so they can clean up after themselves, I find myself smiling every time I look at the handprints and fingerprints left on our sliding glass doors. Sure, I clean them when having company over, but for me it's a constant reminder that one day they are going to grow up and those fingerprints won't be there and I will wish they didn't grow up quite so fast. It brings a little perspective to those times I'm cleaning up spilled milk for the five thousandth time each day or squishing little pieces of mac and cheese between my toes after being thrown on the rug by my one-year-old. As for chicken soup, it has become my go-to budget-friendly, weight-friendly, comfort-food meal. At least once a month I boil a whole chicken, make stock out of the bones, and shred the meat for several meals. And of course, I always make a big pot of chicken soup.  So I figured those two things together represent what my life is all about right now.
